The Village Church's Purpose, Values, and Beliefs
Purpose
| |
We worship by loving God with all our hearts. |
| |
We serve by loving others as we love ourselves. |
| |
We are in continuous spiritual formation, knowing we want to live as Jesus lived. |
| |
We are developing a community by sharing our lives through authentic relationships with other believers. |
| |
We evangelize by enthusiastically sharing the message of life through Jesus Christ with all who need to hear. |
Values
| |
We believe that God loves all people, despite their past or present condition, and that every activity of the church should reflect Gods love for people. |
| |
We believe that the church should present the message of Jesus Christ to the world with cultural relevance and excellence, while preserving the doctrinal integrity of the message. |
| |
We believe we should live with full devotion to Jesus Christ and that this should be the norm for every believer where it is evidenced by a life that increasingly bears the fruit of the Holy Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. |
| |
We believe that God gives spiritual gifts to every believer and it is the believers responsibility, with the encouragement of the church people, to discover and faithfully use their gifts to glorify God & build up His church. |
Beliefs
| |
The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, which is uniquely God-inspired, without error, and the final authority on all matters on which it bears. As the Bible teaches, there is one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each possessing all the attributes of Deity. |
| |
God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God's saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God's saving grace - not human effort - and must be received personally by repentance and faith. |
| |
Jesus Christ, second Person of the Trinity lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplishes salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between God and us. He will return to earth to consummate history. |
| |
The Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church. The church's role is to glorify God and serve those in need. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Those forgiven through Christ will enjoy eternal fellowship with God. |
